How to pack?

“He who would travel happily must travel light”

Antoine de St Exupéry

The moment has come…in a few days you will be driving up the highway to meet us at the float dock. How should you pack?

  • Often enough, you could save money if you plan right. Flying a couple hundreds pounds below the max weight allowance, that’s leaving room for meat on the way back. Hence saving an extra flight.

  • For each item you want to bring along, ask yourself: “Do I really need it?”

  • Plastic totes work great for packing, especially food. And you can re-use them on the way back to take the meat out.

  • Weigh your load at home. Ensure all passengers and gear don’t exceed the weight allowance stated for the airplane you charter.

  • Keep some water shoes handy as the shore is not always reachable from the floats of the airplane.

  • Make sure all zippers on your bags / jackets are closed so nothing drops in the water during loading / offloading.

  • Ensure all weapons are unloaded.

You have arrived at the dock and brought everything by the floatplane. How do we load the airplane?

  • When loading an airplane, we want light gear to the very back and heavier items as much forward as possible for weight and balance purposes. Sort heavy vs light gear beforehand.

  • We will put some of your gear inside the pontoons where there might be some water splash during the flight. Sort water-resistant items beforehand (propane tanks, cans, motors, chainsaw, dry sack etc.).

  • If you bring pepper spray or bear spray, let us know so we can put it inside the float compartment for safety reasons.

  • Rifles and other fragile items will go last. You can keep your rifle with you or we can place them on top of the load.
